Out of Character Information

player name: RAMEN. It's been my internet handle for years.
player journal: blackswanevent.at.dreamwidth
playing here: nobody yet. (although I have a list I would eventually like to work through)
where did you find us? Well. Rycca who plays Snape is on my plurk list and I enabled her to app Grave Robber because I'm a huge Repo!Fan, and everything sort of spiraled out of control from there. What attracted me to this game. You have possibly the biggest Game of Thrones cast I have ever seen and I want all the threads with them.
are you 16 years of age or older?: Yep. About to hit the quarter of a century mark as a matter of fact!

In Character Information

character name: Nathan Wallace nee' "The Repo Man"
Fandom: Repo! the Genetic Opera
Timeline: Post Opera, just after dying in his daughter's arms.
character's age: Nathan is never mentioned by age. However it's safe to assume that he's in his mid-to-late fifties based on Tony Head's age.

It's also worth noting that given the location, he might not be entirely used to telling people his age and rather letting them guess. Surgical alterations. As he'd say he has the heart, lungs, and leg muscles of a twenty year old.

powers, skills, pets and equipment:

Nathan's only pet would most likely be his daughter since he kept her like one would keep a house cat. However since the opera Shilo has gone missing and he severed his ties with her, descending into a world where he has lost his little bug and consequently one of the few links to human companionship.

That leaves skills, powers, and equipment.

Skills Nathan is a surgeon trained at the UCLA medical center. His specialty is general surgery. He is calm, methodical, and his hands never shake which counts as a skill given his past history. He has trained himself, like a Roman doctor of old, to completely detach himself from pain and emotion. He didn't always have that skill but it's once that he's developed. He can and will save your life or the lives of others-per your instructions. If you want him to save the life of your lover, friend, or enemy he can do that. If you want them to wake up without their eyes at the same time he can do that too.

He has no qualms or scruples and he's QUICK but that's largely thanks to GeneCo issue upgrades which leads us to powers.

POWERS ...Nathan is surgically altered.

There's no other way to explain Tony Head (despite the badassery of being Tony Head) going out and taking out twenty to thirty guards looking for his daughter. He HAS to have GeneCo issue upgrades and they have to be working pretty damn well. For a man of his age he has the heart and lungs of a younger individual genetically altered to-make him a killing machine. He also (once upon a time it would have been against his will BUT.) has had his knees and quads replaced so he is FAST-enough to keep up with someone physically fit and in the prime of their life. He's a grandpa on wheels and watch yourself if something bad happens.

His biggest advantages have been speed and size-strength is minimal and nominal when you have someone's hands around your throat.

In suggesting a related power I would like to ask that his stealth be upped by one. You'd have to be watching really really carefully to find him. That's nothing new however, since no one would openly acknowledge that murder is legal in Sanitarium Island. The Repo men do not exist they are a legend.

canon history:

Link ahoy!

personality:
The Short Version: Nathan Wallace is not a well puppy and probably one of the sickest characters mentally in Repo.

Nathan is very much a product of his enviorment, the sort of person who seemingly has suffered plague and disaster and has become warped and twisted by it. Colleagues and co-workers have complimented him on the way he has managed to seemingly divorce himself utterly from what he does for a living-what they fail to realize is that in order to achieve such a facade he has literally divorced himself from his darker nature creating a seperate and very split personality come to be known and feared as 'the' Repo Man.

Nathan Himself is a flawed individual, but he prides himself on recognizing that he's made mistakes. Unwilling to learn from them however, there's little and less that he can do to correct the errors that he's made. Taught (seemingly) from an early age that he was special and highly intelligent, he treats people who he should care for with an aire of self importance and undeniable arrogance. In order to have achieved what he'd achieved, you had to be good and therefore superior to the rest of everyone else including the people who you were supposed to care about the most.

This attitude has backfired severely on him on several occasions (His wife's death foremost) but in dealing with most people when not...working he'll continue to play the role of the town physician, chuckling lightly at the stupidity of people and pontificating on how wrong you are...even if he's wrong himself.

The one person that Nathan lives for beyond all others is Shilo. Overprotective and sometimes seemingly intense, Nathan long ago admitted to himself that Shilo was the best thing he'd ever done (even if he only assisted in creating her) and was therefore something worthy of being protected. He is constantly torn between keeping up his facade and being honest with her-difficult since Nathan has difficulty being honest with himself. Their relationship is Rocky to a fault, Nathan feeling that Shilo is the only person who truly cares (and is therefore worthy of truth) and Shilo simply wanting to live her life-something Nathan has every intent of denying her if at all possible.

In short, A man burdened by an excess of pride and seemingly being better then everyone else (in his mind anyway) who learned the hard way that pride goeth before a fall.

Repo Man. In writing Nathan you really have to consider that he's two seperate people. (There are in fact a number of scenes like 'Tonight we are Betrayed' where it's almost LIKE Nathan is talking to someone else.) Like Harvey Dent and Two Face, Like Tyler Durden and "Jack" Nathan and Repo are one and the same, even if they do occasionally argue.

Repo is the best at what he does and that's killing. Born of Nathan's contempt for humanity and seeming feelings of superiority, Repo is a wolf among sheep, a monster amid frightened children. He will never apologize for what he's done, never feel sorry, never do anything that will compromise his department, his company, or his position. He is this new world personified, changed into something horrible but accepting it and doing whatever it will take to survive.

His attitude toward Shilo is something similar. Shilo matters to Nathan which means that she's to be protected in order to preserve his existence-whatever it will take to survive. However if it were to come down to it and Nathan were unable to stop 'himself' then Repo would do what was required to and with the girl and possibly enjoy it.

He is the quintessential ID-desire and devotion and animal instinct as opposed to the "burdens" of Society that Nathan Wallace puts upon himself. He has no need of society (WE dun need your stinkin' badges!) because in the end it will all crumble into nothing.

why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting?

Apart from the idea of a city where one has to face magic and other horrors (especially the idea of Nathan facing magic.) Nathan's canon point makes it an interesting story to explore. His entire life revolved around Shilo and the memory of his mistakes and failure-where does he go now? Does he expunge Repo!Man? In Scorched there are a lot of characters who could potentially take advantage of his skills-both good and bad he could either end up a glorified hitman or finally get some peace.

Repo! characters do well in strange dark cities. I think playing him opposite Grave Robber post opera, not to mention other characters would give them an opportunity to see the man as he was and work with him. He's malleable, and easily manipulated at this point however woe betide the person who uses him. He's not a character who will make friends, but he's a character who KNOWS how to survive and was shaped to be one of Rotti Largo's many hunting dogs. Therefore I'm sure he could make himself useful.

[That, and if we do get a cast and there's a Blind Mag I look forward to their CR with frightening means.]

Writing Samples

Network Post Sample:

[There's video and then there's an older man with slightly unkempt hair and an exhausted weary expression on his face. He's good-oh so good at hiding his true emotions and intent. He's angry, he's pissed. However he has one saving grace.]

...I'm Doctor Nathan Wallace.

[No one, no one of good sense turned down a doctor. No matter what this city was.]

..and I'm afraid...I'm afraid I don't know where I am. This isn't Sanitarium Square.

Third Person Sample:

His first thought-anger. The sense of being torn away from something warm. His second thought-weary exhaustion. His third-apprehension and a clawing hand for something long and sharp.

Once upon a time he had been living in a golden heavenly tower where a smiling god had looked down upon him and he'd had an angel and everything had been blessed. Then he had fallen and he had made himself content with his position in life. He was a wolf by trade shaped by circumstances beyond his control. There were names and dates but none of that mattered.

His last thought had been Maybe I fucked up.

The keyword being maybe because facing his shame was the worst sort of redemption any man could come to and Shilo-covered in his blood and Mag's blood (Oh Mag.) He was a corpse on the ground. He knew that much. And he had arisen into a new city.

This was not death. Not the afterlife nor the place he'd earned in heaven or hell. Nathan Wallace sat heavily down and took in everything with the simple guise of a predator. People to his left, people to his right, people to the middle. No threat, gimpy leg, bad back, fat, easy pickings easy prey.

Except...Rotti was gone and the desire to protect Shilo and keep something pure and innocent locked away because it was a reminder of things he could not have was gone. He was nothing. He reached for truth and found nothing and it was both a relief and a silent scream of agony. Well. What now?

What now indeed. The final moments of his life had left him filled with unease. He rose steadily aware that his attire made him stand out. No calming breath of anything, no conclusion to the opera. What now?

Change of Clothes. He started walking, And a weapon. He tried in vain to turn off Repo man but couldn't. So he walked and counted the ways he could kill the sheep around him. Bad leg, gimpy knee, fat, possibly drugged, possible surgery...

Anything else? ...YOLO?
